ProPlay Sports doubles capture speed with video camera upgrades

5/5/2010 - AUSTIN, Texas - AUSTIN, Texas – ProPlay LLC, makers of the high-tech, pocket-sized ProPlay Golf Performance System, has upgraded their video camera’s software and firmware making the best video analysis system on the market even better. Existing customers will be provided the upgrades at no charge through their ProPlay Scratch software.

The upgrades double the speed and improve the quality of the captured footage and also make the system compatible with 64-bit technology. The upgrades will allow for faster video downloading and boast a friendlier interface.

“With the new upgrades, the video camera now records at up to 60 frames per second, which is twice the speed as before,” said Jack Parsons, CEO of ProPlay. “These improvements greatly enhance the quality of the video and provide twice the number of images of the clubhead through the critical hitting area. The objective here was to enhance the quality of the video feedback while still maintaining the frame rate in a range most beneficial to the player.”

ProPlay uses Aptina Imaging’s Global Shutter technology, which is designed for capturing crystal clear high-speed video images that are distortion free. Parsons noted that the typical off-the-shelf video camera, regardless of resolution or frame rate, still uses a rolling shutter, which results in distortion of the image when used to record fast motion activities, such as a golf swing.

Another distinctive feature is ProPlay’s Organic LED display, which makes it viewable outside in direct sunlight. It’s nearly two times brighter and has 10 times the contrast ratio than LCD displays used in competitive cameras, while consuming 30 percent less power.

ProPlay is a powerful, portable and rugged video system that enhances the quality of any practice session and helps players achieve tangible results. The video system is easy-to-use right out of the box, regardless of a golfer’s skill level with operating a camera or computer.

“ProPlay is easy, simple to operate and it works,” said Rick LaRose, Director of Golf, Head Golf Coach, University of Arizona. “It's everything a coach and player needs in a video system right in your pocket.”

The System ships complete with video camera equipped with an internal rechargeable Lithium Ion battery that provides 4.5 hours of battery life per use. The battery is recharged anytime the camera is attached to a computer via its USB cable or by using the AC quick-charger. Also included is ProPlay’s Scratch Swing Analysis Software, a mini-tripod ideal for use on the range or on the putting green, and a soft travel pouch, all packaged in a very unique and visually appealing hard carrying case that is very competitively priced at $449.

ProPlay is available through your local pro-shops, teaching pros and academies, or via the ProPlay Web site www.proplaysports.com. For additional information, call 866-800-9433.
